Overview

The Application Scientist will play a critical role on Fujifilm Cellular Dynamics Inc.'s (FCDI) Applications Team. The team is responsible to identify, develop, and deploy technical assay solutions using iPSC-derived cell types for research endeavors in the life sciences, with a focus on cardiac and neuronal cells. We are looking for a highly-motivated Scientist who can design experiments, analyze data, establish robust protocols, build relevant disease models, and ideate solutions into commercial successes.

Essential Responsibilities

1. Develop cell-based assays to assess the functional performance of iPSC-derived cell types.
2. Generate data and figures as content for sales enablement tools to showcase iCell products.
3. Maintain experimental lab notebook and write technical protocols, reports, and appropriate documentation.
4. Interact with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot existing products and create improved assay content.
5. Evaluate new technologies / instrumentation for internal use or potential outsourcing opportunities.
6. Other job functions as assigned.

Required Skills and Education

    M.S. with 2 years of experience in cell biology, biochemistry, or a related field.
  • At least 1 year of experience in stem cell-related research or assay development; industry experience preferred.
  • Requires a solid understanding and practical experience in routine mammalian cell culture.
  • Knowledge of 3D cell culture, organ-on-a-chip, or any complex co-culture system is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; customer-facing experience beneficial; reliable, adaptable, able to multitask.
  • Fast learner who not only can conduct established experiments independently, but also demonstrates the initiative and intellectual curiosity required to develop new techniques.
  • Works under minimal supervision for routine activities.
  • Ability to work effectively with others in a collaborative team environment.
  • Some weekend work and travel may be required.
  • On-site, lab-based role; working in the laboratory and/or at a computer for extended periods of time required.
  • Able to work with hazardous materials (i.e., chemicals, equipment,) without endangering oneself or others.
  • Able to wear standard laboratory PPE.
