Job Description

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directly responsible for all operations associated with the Medical Group divisions of hospital medicine, critical care and emergency medicine. Oversees the development, execution, administration and evaluation of all hospital medicine, critical care and emergency medicine operations. Ensures efficient and high quality patient services.
  • Manages the portfolio of practices within hospital medicine, critical care and emergency medicine to offer a competitive, cost-effective internal solution to staffing and practice operations.
  • Develops and distributes dashboards for hospital medicine, critical care and emergency medicine services focused on quality, efficiency, and productivity.
  • Serves as the internal consultant for all hospital medicine, critical care and emergency medicine initiatives focused on strategic, cost saving, and operational efficiency at all sites of care.
  • Ensures alignment of clinic services with hospital medicine, critical care and emergency medicine services, other Advocate Health and Aurora Health services and acts as a liaison to corporate and medical center departments that provide clinical support services.
  • As part of Medical Group leadership, assists with the recruitment and retention of physicians into the hospital medicine, critical care and emergency medicine practices, development of new specialties planning, project management, physician agreements and facility planning. Facilitates the assimilation of newly hired physicians into the group practice setting and manages ongoing communications and relationships with physicians, medical centers and other Advocate Health and community stakeholders.
  • Ensures standardization across hospital medicine, critical care and emergency medicine and integration with other Advocate Health entities to optimize efficiency, productivity, financial outcomes and human resources. Accountable for initiatives across the hospital medicine, critical care and emergency medicine to accomplish growth, effectiveness, quality and patient satisfaction goals.
  • Performs human resources responsibilities for teammates and clinicians, which include interviewing and selection of new teammates, promotions, teammate/leader/clinician development, performance evaluations, compensation changes, resolution of teammate concerns, corrective actions, terminations, and overall teammate engagement.
  • Develops and recommends operating and capital budgets and controls expenditures within approved budget objectives.

Years of Experience: Requires 10 years of exp

Describe Type Experience: Typically requires 10 years of experience in providing strategic and operational leadership and oversight in hospital medicine, critical care and/or emergency medicine , which includes successfully integrating and aligning operational functions, recruiting and retaining clinicians, successful practice management, change management, fee-for-service and managed care within a multi-specialty and/or hospital medicine, critical care or emergency medicine group with a large integrated health care system. Additional experience leading hospital medicine, critical care and/or emergency medicine preferred.

  • Ability to develop, facilitate and lead strategic initiatives, while establishing excellent working relationships and strategic partnerships with clinicians/leaders/teammates across a large organization to achieve a shared vision, values and objectives.
  • Analytical, problem-solving skills, creative facilitation and innovation in collaboration with leaders across the organization; pays attention to detail to effectively evaluate program/project plans; ability to manage a varied workload of complex projects with multiple priorities.
  • Consults, designs, conducts studies, and develops/implements solutions for issues with significant financial/operational impact to the organization. Maintains understanding of trends in health care delivery/dynamics.
  • Proven leadership skills including project management, process improvement, problem-solving, decision making, prioritization, delegation, team building, customer service, and conflict resolution.
  • Proven success/positive interacts with clinicians/leaders/teammates at all levels throughout the organization and with the community.

PHYSICIAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Will generally be exposed to a normal office environment.
  • This position requires travel so will be exposed to weather and road conditions.
  • May be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical and explosive hazards as well as human blood and body fluids, so therefore must wear protective clothing as required.
  • Operates all equipment essential in performing the job.
