Overview

RN SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner), Emergency Room, Javon Bea Hospitals

*48 Hours of On-Call / Month (Weekend & Holiday Call Rotation)

The sexual assault nurse examiner will demonstrate clinical competence in the collection of forensic evidence, in addition to the care, treatment and referral of those impacted by interpersonal violence. The SANE Pool RN will work closely with law enforcement, social workers, community advocates and others.

Javon Bea Hospital - Riverside is a level 1 Trauma Center with 16 treatment and 3 trauma rooms. ER nurses treat patients who are suffering from trauma, injury or severe medical conditions and require urgent treatment. Since these specialists work in crisis situations, they must be able to quickly identify the best way to stabilize patients and minimize pain.


Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate clinical competence in the collection of forensic evidence in addition to the care, treatment and referral of those impacted by interpersonal violence.
  • Demonstrates clinical competence in appropriate documentation and care of forensic evidence
  • Demonstrates the ability to provide expert testimony in a court of law
  • Provides a safe, comforting and healing environment for patients and their families.

Education and Experience

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • BSN or upon hire BSN completion agreement for enrollment in an accredited BSN Completion Program.
  • Minimum of one year of relevant clinical experience.

Certification/Licensure

  • Current IL RN licensure by the IL Dept of Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
  • Current CPR certification
  • 64 Hour Adult/Adolescent/Pediatric SANE Course
