1.0 FTE/40 Hours per Week

The Behavioral Health Triage and Crisis team at Group Health Cooperative of South Central Wisconsin continues to expand, and we are looking for 2 more providers to join our current team of 5 behavioral health providers and a team specialist. Collaboration with colleagues on best care for our members and patients will be a daily occurrence and contribute to your clinical growth and joy of practice. You will be providing in clinic, virtual and phone care to our members and patients experiencing behavioral health crises, seeking care following an ER or hospital stay, and in need of short-term behavioral health consults.

Position Summary:

Under clinical and administrative supervision, the Behavioral Health Triage and Crisis Associate will assist with the provision of equitable and quality care for GHC members and patients across the lifespan (children, adolescents, and adults). They serve GHC members and patients and support GHC's Mission to maximize health and well-being. The customer for this team includes the organization, GHC members, GHC's behavioral health department, and our partner departments within GHC, including primary care.

They are responsible for initial telephone screening, triage, and risk assessments, including safety planning, and determining acuity and appropriate level of care for GHC-SCW members and patients seeking mental health and related behavioral health services. This role also provides crisis mental health services to individuals and families over the telephone and through virtual and in clinic appointment options. They further provide hospital and ER (Emergency Room) follow-up appointments.

To support members obtaining behavioral health care within GHC-SCW staff model and/or members seen in primary care with short-term behavioral health treatment needs, they may provide short term, solution focused therapy and/or consults, intakes, bridging therapy appointments and follow ups to higher risk depression screens. The care provided by this role includes counseling and crisis intervention, short-term case management, consultations, and information and referrals to in-house and community resources. In addition, the BH Triage and Crisis Specialist assists other GHC-SCW providers by acting as a consultant for individuals with complex psychosocial needs. As a part of the BH Triage and Crisis team they will participate in team projects to maintain and, as appropriate, improve efficiency, training, and relationships with departments throughout GHC-SCW. The Triage Associate receives day to day guidance, clinical consultation and supervision, and administrative supervision, from the Behavioral Health Coordinator for Triage and Crisis, with additional training, guidance, and direction from the Behavioral Health Triage Lead.

The Behavioral Health Triage and Crisis Associate will be part of our Capitol-Regent outpatient behavioral health and provide both virtual and in office treatment per department protocols. They will complete documentation in the electronic medical record in a timely manner per department protocols, and chart in a manner that is patient-oriented and professional. The BH Triage and Crisis Associate will actively participate in case consultations with their local and broader behavioral health teams and be an active participant in Behavioral Health team and department meetings. They will meet with their clinical supervisor per department protocol and Wisconsin DSPS regulations with an open, receptive manner, and will appropriately receive and use feedback to address all relevant aspects of their treatment as deemed necessary by the clinical supervisor.

JOB SPECIFIC MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. A master's degree in social work, professional counseling, marriage and family therapy or related field from an accredited graduate program is required.
  2. A minimum of one (1) year of experience in a health care setting; and, direct experience with mental health care delivery is strongly preferred.
  3. Valid, State of Wisconsin license as an Advanced Practice Social Worker, LPC-IT, MFT-IT or above is required. Applicants who demonstrate significant practice and training in mental health care delivery may be considered if licensure is obtained within 4 months of hire.
  4. Possession of a valid Wisconsin driver license with a good driving record.
  5. Knowledge of and experience with mental health triage, crisis assessment and intervention, safety planning and de-escalation skills, and short-term therapy models preferred.
  6. Willingness, with appropriate supervision, to provide mental health services to ages across the lifespan (children, adolescents, and adults) is required.
  7. Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  8. Previous experience in an HMO or managed care setting preferred.
  9. Knowledge, ability, and skills in the provision of professional, evidence-based mental health therapy services across the lifespan, including assessment, diagnosis and treatment of individuals and families is required.
  10. Knowledge of and ability to apply current mental health theory and practices is required.
  11. Knowledge of and ability to effectively use human relations, interpersonal and communications skills. Excellent interpersonal skills required. Excellent verbal communication skills, including active, empathic listening skills, required.
  12. Ability to provide culturally competent services and to work effectively with persons of diverse cultural backgrounds required.
  13. Basic knowledge of psychopharmacology preferred.
  14. Knowledge of and ability to use personal computers is required. Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs. Ability to learn and use electronic medical record systems such as EPIC.
  15. Access to and ability to use a personal computer with stable access to the internet and video conferencing capacity.
  16. Ability to work effectively with clinic and administrative staff required. Ability to be a team player in a team-oriented environment required. Ability to interact productively with staff at all levels required.
  17. Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills required. Ability to speak and listen in person and on the phone required.
  18. The ability to listen, trouble-shoot and be flexible is required.
  19. Ability to receive and incorporate feedback from Clinical and Administrative supervisors, Triage and Crisis Team Lead, Behavioral Health Services Manager, and other professional staff toward the provision of appropriate Triage and Clinical care of patients.
  20. Attendance at weekly (or the equivalent) supervision with Clinical and Administrative Supervisor(s) or as recommended by said supervisors.
  21. Professional manner is necessary to deal courteously and effectively with patients and the public required. Superior customer service skills are required.
  22. Ability to maintain patient confidentiality required. Knowledge of or ability to learn medical records and appropriate documentation requirements. Knowledge of or ability to learn HIPAA requirements.
  23. The ability to work some evening hours and after-hours evening and weekend on-call rotation is required.
  24. Excellent assessment, interpersonal and communication skills required.
  25. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with GHC-SCW staff.
  26. Ability to remain seated and attentive to patient verbalizations for extended periods of time required
