The Role

IFF is searching for junior level scientists interested in exploring the complex intersection between host immunity and microbes that inhabit barrier tissues. This position is based within our Wilmington, Delaware research campus. Candidates will bring technical expertise and creative problem-solving skills to research teams operating at various project stages ranging from technology platform development, early product candidate discovery, to pre-clinical and clinical evaluation.

The selected candidate will:

  • Be an integral part of a diverse global team of scientists who work together to support and strengthen our microbiome research portfolio.
  • Work within collaborative teams in an industrial R&D environment that values creativity and ingenuity.
  • Help drive innovation enabled by state-of-the-art technologies in a rapidly growing field.

Your day-to-day work will include:

  • Design experiments independently and together with project teams.
  • Execute laboratory experiments against set goals.
  • Analyze and interpret results.
  • Make technical reports and potentially participate in publications and patents.
  • Report results to project leads and other stakeholders.
  • Enforce IFFs safety culture.

Job Requirements

Skills and Experiences

  • Master's degree in a relative field with a minimum of four-years' experience working independently toward research goals.
  • Hands-on experience with common immunological laboratory techniques and cell culture.
  • Expertise in experimental design and basic statistical skills.
  • Technical presentation and scientific writing skills
  • A collection of skills that might include:
  • PBMC derived ex vivo cell models of immune function.
  • Isolation and culture of tissue resident cells.
  • Experience working with mouse models and tissues.
  • RNAseq, including single cell immune profiling.
  • Proteomic profiling of microbes / antigen discovery.
  • Flow cytometry / FACS / MACS.
  • ELISA / Western blotting / IP.
  • Microbiological techniques.
