The foundation staff supports the exceptional care offered throughout our communities.
The SA provides immediate support to the surgeon/physician during the performance of surgical procedures. The SA understands human anatomy; has developed surgical skill such as exposure, hemostasis, anatomical identification, wound closure and proper positioning of the patient for the procedure. The SA must have knowledge of the surgical procedure and ability to anticipate needs of the surgeon. The SA has a working knowledge of the principles of aseptic technique, peri-operative policies and procedural guidelines. The SA will work with the operating roomRN to ensure the OR is safe, equipment is functioning properly and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety.
