In the role of Research Associate II you will be working in Anesthesiology.

Purpose

Under minimal supervision, uses fundamental and advanced concepts, practices, and procedures of particular field of specialization to perform complex scientific research. In the role of Research Associate II, you will independently, as well as collaboratively, conduct research studies to advance the goals of the principal investigators, as well as departmental, research programs exploring novel treatment of chronic pain using animal models.

Primary Functions

* Performs a variety of increasingly complex experimental protocols and procedures including, but not limited to rodent surgery, behavior analysis, immunohistology, western blotting, and PCR with minimal supervision.

* Develop new methodologies for lab procedures.

* Oversee ordering laboratory supplies and materials.

* Participate in meetings with principal investigator and research staff and evaluate/interpret the validity of data, develop methodologies, evaluate lab procedures.

* Teach and train new members of the lab in relevant techniques and analytical procedures.

* Organize and delegate work assignments.

* Perform library searches prepare materials for publications and grants.

Knowledge - Skills - Abilities

  • Experience working with rodents, cell culture, standard molecular biology techniques including PCR, immunohistochemistry, and/or western blotting
  • Knowledge of neurophysiology and neurobiology is preferred
  • Knowledge of advanced lab techniques, planning and implementation of research protocols is essential.
  • Experience with handling of laboratory animals is preferred, but not required.
  • Experience working with rodents, cell culture, standard molecular biology techniques including PCR, immunohistochemistry, and/or western blotting.
  • Knowledge of biology, chemistry, mathematics, documentation, and records management.
  • Data utilization, complex problem solving, critical thinking, resource management, and writing skills.

Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Minimum Required Experience: 2 years
