Position Summary:

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, designs, develops and evaluates sensor assemblies.

Position Requirements:

  1. Identifies customer needs and develops product solutions to meet all applicable requirements based on product design and function.
  2. Identifies appropriate concepts and organizes functional model development (including design, building, and testing) to verify concepts.
  3. Creates and maintains engineering documentation such as bills of material, DFMEA, prototype process flows, specifications, and other types of engineering documentation.
  4. Coordinates efforts with customer engineering to provide necessary technical support.
  5. Identifies, tracks, and resolves open issues for products under development.
  6. Reviews and identifies changes to detailed drawing sets and specifications from design concept stage through production at the component and assembly level. Performs statistical analysis such as SPC, to verify part/process conformance/capabilities. Analyzes dimensional stack-ups and makes use of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing techniques.
  7. Interfaces with peers, technical resources outside of the company (university professors, etc.), vendors and customers.
  8. Procures prototype sources/tooling, and verifies tooling capability.
  9. Establish and implement appropriate Engineering Development and Design Validation test plans.
  10. Performs prototype product failure analysis on customer returns, scrap & DV/PV parts and reports results.
  11. Establishes design concepts, BOM's, and Engineering assumptions for customer quotations.
  12. Work with and/or direct Technicians and Designers in product development activities.
  13. Assists in the development of procedures and implements those procedures required for TS16949 and ISO 14001.
  14. Maintain compliance to current ISO standards and customer specific requirements as applicable.
  15. Support, promote, and perform in a manner consistent with continuous improvement goals and the values of SSI Technologies, Inc. which includes following the policies, procedures, and requirements of our Quality Management and IS0 14001 Environmental Management System.
  16. All other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

Professional/Technical Experience, Skills and Education:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, packaging, electromechanical, other) with 3-5 years of related experience.
  2. Experience with design of plastic, metal or other packaging.
  3. Proficient in Microsoft Office, required.

Other Qualifications:

  1. Energetic and self-driven professional.
  2. Excellent communication skills.
  3. Proven ability to manage deadlines, prioritize, multi-task.
  4. Strong problem solving and analytical skills
