PURPOSE AND SCOPE
This position is responsible for the design of products that meet the criteria set forth, support of production to manufacture those products, and support products after production introduction.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Perform independent design work including hydraulics, electrical, structural, and mechanical systems design.
  • Perform analytical modeling.
  • Analyze components or systems for design life and performance.
  • Layout concepts.
  • Write engineering change notices (ECNs)
  • Update and maintain Enterprise One MRP system
  • Create CAD drawings for concepts, prototyping, testing and production utilizing Autocad (Electrical) and/or Solidworks (Mechanical)
  • Write test procedures, set up, perform monitor tests. Collect, reduce, analyze, present test data and draw appropriate conclusions based on the data.
  • Assist with the organization and maintenance of engineering document files.
  • Develop cost and quotations for representatives per internal requests for quotes.
  • Design special products to meet quoted requirements.
  • Support production, customer service, and applications.
  • Create all necessary documentation for production of special products, including production drawings, and Bills of Materials.
  • Suggest or select materials, components and/or tolerances as appropriate to ensure product performance.
  • Interface with internal contacts such as engineering team members, manufacturing and purchasing.
  • Interface with external contacts such as suppliers for component selection options, and customers.
  • Write purchase specifications.
  • Attend field trips to install/troubleshoot prototype and/or service engineering field models (possible overnight travel).
  • Support all phases of engineering to ensure projects run smoothly and target dates are met.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university in Mechanical, Structural or Electrical engineering or Engineering Technology
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience as demonstrated by PE certification.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent decision-making abilities.
  • Working knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing, and MRP systems
  • Proficient with AutoCAD (Electrical)
  • Proficient with Solidworks (Mechanical)
