Due to a very competitive market in the field of nursing, Madison College's full-time instructors' starting salary range in the School of Nursing will start at $75,000 up to $95,000 (Salary range to be competitive but will need to be commensurate with current experience.) Full-time instructors work a nine-month contract (38 weeks) for the academic year (Fall and Spring semesters), and teaching summer courses, if available, is optional with additional pay.

Job Description:

The School of Nursing at Madison College invites applications for the position of Nursing Assistant Program Instructor. We are seeking motivated and engaged candidates who share a willingness to collaborate with other faculty members, students, and the community at large. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to the field and to teaching that will enable him or her to be a visionary and innovative member of the program.

This position is responsible for instruction of the Nursing Assistant program and other healthcare courses at the college level. This includes developing a relevant and progressive curriculum, designing, and implementing effective learning strategies and environments, delivering instruction of high quality, assessing student learning, advising students, and participating in college service activities at the department, school, and college levels. A faculty member in this position can expect to teach groups of 8 students in clinical settings and progress to teaching skills and theory commensurate with experience. Teaching will occur in person (day and evening), and online in synchronous and/or asynchronous formats. All faculty are expected to develop skill sets to teach in a variety of formats (training provided as needed for non-traditional formats).

This position reports to the Dean of the School of Nursing.

This position will be open until filled, with a first consideration date of March 10, 2024, at 11:59 pm. After this date, the recruitment may close without further notice. Interested applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.

Qualified candidates will be afforded a phone screen prior to review by committee. Our goal is to conduct phone screens prior to the first consideration date, with first round virtual interviews the week of March 25, 2024, second round in-person interviews the week of April 8, 2024, with final interviews the week of April 22, 2024. Due to clinical requirements, Madison College is offering training with pay, above and beyond the contracted year. Nursing instructors training period starts August 1, 2024, with faculty contract starting August 12, 2024.

Essential Duties:
  • Facilitate student learning by developing appropriate instructional strategies to fit students' needs and support student engagement.
  • Evaluate student performance and provide regular feedback in courses taught by the instructor.
  • Contribute to student success and retention by advising students with course selection, career concerns, internships, and other matters.
  • Serve as an advocate for students and engages in activities that help students achieve their goals such as writing letters of recommendations, and/or helping students link with internships, service learning, job shadowing and other forms of networking.
  • Provide support to the program, the school, and the college by attending and engaging in events and meetings and participating fully within the team environment.
  • Continually revise curriculum to improve student learning.
  • Continually improve teaching through professional development activities and the integration of new techniques and technology. This includes the development and implementation of individualized professional development plan.
  • Maintains a commitment to the college mission, vision, and values.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Skilled in communicating effectively and professionally, both orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated skill in communications and human relations with populations of diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds and persons with disabilities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and learning. This includes, but is not limited to, knowledge/experience with current educational methods/strategies such as learner-centered instruction, active learning, assessment, evaluation, collaborative techniques, and strategies aimed at closing the achievement gaps across race, gender, class, and disability.
  • Desire and ability to teach courses at both the collegiate transfer and technical/occupational program levels.
  • Ability to communicate complex and difficult concepts and ideas to students with varied backgrounds and levels of preparedness.
  • Ability to learn new and emerging technologies and incorporate them into the classroom and curriculum.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues on course and program promotion, direction, and innovation.
  • Ability to partner, team and collaborate with clinical partners as the foundation for facilitating student learning in clinical settings.


Qualifications:

Associate degree in nursing

AND

Two (2) years (4000 hours) of related work experience that must include one year (2000 hours of long-term care experience).

AND

Ability to achieve WI Nursing Assistant Primary Instructor status through submission of the following to the State (will be facilitated by the college):

a) Completion of DQ form F-62610 Nurse Aide Training Program Primary Instructor Application

b) Copy of RN license

c) Copy of Train the Trainer certificate or equivalent

d) Ability to complete self-study on-line NA Train the Trainer class if needed.
