Our Environmental Sector delivers comprehensive environmental solutions to meet the full project lifecycle needs of clients in renewable energy, oil & gas, transportation, and manufacturing industries. With one of the largest multimedia air and land permitting and compliance teams in the country, we support client success in manufacturing and industry, liquids delivery and processing, natural gas storage and delivery, power generation and delivery, and transportation projects.


Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY

TRC is seeking an Entry Level Civil / Geo-Environmental Engineer our growing Geo-Environmental and Civil Engineering team, based in Madison, WI. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual looking for experience and will provide support for permitting, design, and construction of a wide variety of technically challenging projects primarily for industrial, utility, renewable energy, and solid waste management clients. As an engineer on our team, you will apply your knowledge and develop new skills while working on challenging projects. By providing you with mentors, you will attain a well-rounded knowledge that will offer boundless opportunities for your professional development. TRC's Madison team is vibrant, dynamic, and fast-paced. We provide access to a broad spectrum of professional experiences. The successful candidate will reside in the Madison area, and work in the Madison office regularly or on occasion.

TRC's Geo-Environmental engineering team offers expertise in regulatory liaison, siting, design, construction, and laboratory testing for land-based engineering projects for a wide range of industries, such as forest products, oil and gas, solid waste management, and utilities. We have been sighting, permitting, designing, and constructing solid waste containment systems since 1977 - always with a focus on safety and quality to meet our client's business needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS

  • Perform engineering calculations to support designs including geotechnical, stormwater, and general civil aspects.
  • Perform field investigations and construction oversight for environmental compliance, geotechnical, and land development projects.
  • Design stormwater management systems, layout grading, design renewable energy systems, and design solid waste management systems.
  • Perform various project tasks including evaluating regulatory requirements, developing quantity take-offs, cost estimates, research, subcontractor procurement support, etc.
  • Prepare reports, plans and specifications for client and governmental approvals and construction.
  • Apply quality assurance and quality control processes.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • B.S. in Civil, Environmental, or Geological Engineering or a relevant field.
  • Eligibility for or possession of EIT certification.
  • Fluency with Microsoft Office software (Work, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc.)
  • Valid driver's license without major violations.
  • Have excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Possess solid technical and problem-solving skills.
  • Staff occasional short and long-term field assignments.
  • Occasional travel up to 30%, throughout the US, primarily in the upper Midwest.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • In addition to the basic qualifications the qualifications below are highly desired but not required:
  • Minimum of one (1) prior internship experience.
  • Knowledge of the use of AutoCAD software.
  • Experience with HydroCAD, Civil3D, or ARCView GIS.
  • Experience with stormwater management design.
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER health and safety training certificate (with an up-to-date 8-hr annual refresher course certification).

Compensation: Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
