The Safety Specialist provides leadership in clinical practice, facilitates safety education, and promotes a culture of safety for patients and staff throughout the organization. Serves as a patient safety leader, collaborating with front line staff to ensure competent and safe care to children and families. Participates in safety related clinical improvement initiatives. Acts as a change agent to lead, facilitate and support hospital and medical staff to create and sustain a culture of high reliability that focuses on elimination of preventable harm. Facilitates and coaches teams regarding risk assessment and analysis and assists them to develop action plans to prevent errors from future occurrences.

  • Requires professional level of knowledge acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree in nursing, health care administration, or other clinical field.

  • Must have a current license to practice professional nursing in the State of Wisconsin, or other clinical field.

  • Requires a minimum of 5 years of nursing and/or health care clinical experience and 1 to 2 years of quality improvement experience, to include consultation or direct work in quality improvement or rapid cycle improvement, failure modes analysis, systems thinking concepts, team facilitation, performance measurement and/or stratification of data.

This position in a hybrid role and would require weekly onsite work.
