Job Summary:

The Division of Allergy, Pulmonary and Critical Care at the University of Wisconsin Madison is seeking a Transplant Pulmonologist to join our Advanced Pulmonary Service/Lung Transplant Program.

The lung transplant program at the University of Wisconsin Madison was established in 1988, and performs approximately 50 transplants per year. Our innovation and expertise placed us second nationally for one year outcomes last year; the shortest wait list times in the region, and wait list mortality below the national average. The University of Wisconsin Hospital serves as one of only three lung transplant centers for the VA Health system. Our Advanced Lung Disease programs include Cystic Fibrosis, Pulmonary Hypertension, ILD and Severe Obstructive Lung Disease, and the inpatient service spans general ward and Intensive Care Unit.

Responsibilities:

This position will have clinical responsibilities including provision of care (inpatient and outpatient) for patients with Advanced Pulmonary Disease and Lung Transplant. Additional areas of clinical focus could include procedural service, general pulmonary disease and critical care, based on candidate's interest.

Our providers participate in clinical teaching of residents and fellows.

Physicians hired on the CHS track will have additional responsibilities. protected time in education and/or research that support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.

Education:

Required
Terminal Degree
MD/DO or Equivalent
Board Certified/Board Eligible Internal Medicine as well as Pulmonary Medicine.

Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowship. Additional training and experience in the management of Lung Transplant candidates and recipients is required, including management of other Advanced Pulmonary Diseases.

For an appointment at Associate Professor rank on CHS Track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate on the CHS Track.

For an appointment at Clinical Associate Professor rank on CT Track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate on the CT Track.

Additional Information:

This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years.
