This is a 12-month, non-tenure-track, part or full-time position. The successful candidate will teach courses, advise and assist teacher candidates, build and maintain relationships with field staff and school partners, manage and mentor student teaching supervisors, and promote the enrollment growth of the program with special attention to the recruitment of a diverse candidate pool.
This position is housed within the Department of Curriculum & Instruction in the School of Education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the flagship campus of the University of Wisconsin System. The University of Wisconsin-Madison occupies ancestral Ho-Chunk land, a place their nation has called Teejop (day-JOPE) since time immemorial. We recognize and respect the inherent sovereignty of the Ho-Chunk and the 12 First Nations within the boundaries of the state of Wisconsin. Their collective legacy of colonization, resistance, and resilience is taught and honored in our teacher education programs, which represents one of many collaborative acts to create a better future together.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Department of Curriculum & Instruction, as a teaching faculty in an innovative Masters program for teacher certification. The Department of Curriculum & Instruction is home to a number of research-based teacher certification programs. These programs are designed around practice-based field experiences in which students observe, assist, and teach in both classrooms and out-of-school educational programs as they work toward earning their initial educator licenses. We are seeking a teaching faculty member to provide leadership within the English as a second language education program and mentorship for the pre-service teacher candidates.

4) manage and mentor field supervisors in their work with students and cooperating teachers;
5) develop and maintain relationships with cooperating teachers and local schools;
6) manage the overall progress of the ESL teacher candidates, including the application process of the incoming cohort and certification/degree process of the graduating cohort;
7) participate with coordinators in other content areas to coordinate, assess and improve the program.
Additional Responsibilities May Include:
1) teaching of additional courses as needed;
2) recruiting initiatives to engage a diverse group of prospective applicants;
3) other administration tasks as needed.
