The Department of Family and Community Medicine seeks qualified individuals who are interested in joining its faculty at the UNM Sandoval Regional Medical Center (SRMC). The UNM SRMC is located in the center of the city of Rio Rancho in Sandoval County near the Rio Rancho City Hall and UNM West. The 200,000 square foot acute care facility houses 60 medical surgical beds and eight behavioral health beds with a capability to expand to 300 beds as the population of the area grows. In addition, the SRMC contains a 13-bay state-of-the-art emergency and trauma center. SRMC's vision is to be the healthcare and medical education provider of choice for Sandoval County. The mission of SRMC is to improve the overall health of the community it serves by providing the highest quality healthcare services that meet the needs of Sandoval County's diverse population while promoting medical education through its partnership with the University Of New Mexico School Of Medicine.

Responsibilities for this position in the clinical area includes outpatient clinical services in primary care. In the educational area, faculty has the opportunity to contribute to the Department and SOM education programs for students and residents in a variety of settings. Leadership in one of the educational, clinical and research programs can be achieved over time. We are nationally and internationally known for educational innovation, currently in the area of the integration of medicine and public health. Our faculty are major contributors to the education of medical students at UNM. Our residency program creates opportunities for rotations in both rural and underserved settings as well as UNM rotations. Our scholarly agenda focuses on disparities, health services and prevention and faculty are encouraged to become involved in these scholarly activities. The faculty is committed to improving the health of New Mexicans through our education, service and research.

We have a growing number of Family Medicine clinics throughout Albuquerque in which faculty practice. These are all moving toward the Patient Centered Medical Home Model and currently many of these clinics are rated the top level PCMH (level 3).

Albuquerque, NM is a beautiful city with mountains to the east and a mesa to the west. It is ideal for outdoor activities and sports all year round including running, hiking, biking and skiing. The State of New Mexico is multicultural and diverse with excellent local cuisine, breathtaking sunsets, multiple cultural and historic sites, lakes, rivers, deserts and mountains.

Salary: salary and rank commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathy; board eligible/certified in Family Medicine by the ABFP or AOA
  • Eligible for medical licensure in NM
  • Eligible for State of New Mexico Board of Pharmacy certification and federal DEA registration
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three years directly related experience, which may include residency in a directly related medical specialty
  • Patient care experience in an office or community clinic
  • Experience teaching students and residents
  • Skill in clinical administration
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
