Role & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the daily operations and supervision of the Anesthesia Technicians and Operative Service Assistants.
  • Is an active member of the operating room leadership team, supporting the department and Patient Care philosophy and goals.
  • Able to perform all the duties of an Anesthesia Technician, including: preparing and maintaining equipment and supplies as needed by the Anesthesiologist.

Education, Certification, Etc.

  • Associate Degree in anesthesia technology preferred and ASATT Certification or successful completion of ASATT certification required.
  • CPR certification. Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers through American Heart or American Red Cross is required.

Experience & Skills:

  • Five years of clinical Anesthesia Technician and/or Biomedical experience assisting anesthetizing personnel in the operation and application of patient care equipment to include inspections in an operating room environment.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Must be able to assume 24 hour availability for unit coverage. Ensures Appropriate staff coverage of unit for both Anesthesia techs and OSAs
  • Technical knowledge of medical equipment theory and operation and sterile techniques and safety procedures related to equipment, tools, chemicals, infection control, electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic hazards.
  • Analytical and statistical skills necessary to develop and monitor unit operating and personnel budgets, identify problems and troubleshoot to find the most efficient solutions to problems. Delete
  • Critical thinking and problem solving abilities in order to resolve complex clinical, systems and personnel problems and issues.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with leaders and staff on policy and procedure matters and provide advice and council on sensitive patient care matters.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, evaluate performance, and resolve conflicts with personnel.
  • Ability to organize and develop logical systems and consistently pay attention to detail.
  • Ability to perform under stressful situations.
