As aSpare Parts Buyer-Commodity Specialist, your primarily responsibility is for the administration, purchasing and inventory controls for indirect materials utilized in the manufacturing space that include parts and supplies for maintenance, repairs and operations (MRO).This role is also secondarily responsible for the initial dispatch of maintenance work orders and maintenance personnel for requests needed on an emergency/non-planned basis as called in from the production team for equipment issues.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Procurement- initiate purchase requisitions and purchase orders pursuant to the needs of the business based on the inventory management strategy deployed based on inventoried and non-inventoried items within the Inventory Management system.Coordinates purchasing activities with maintenance, planning and engineering departments to acquire inventory in a cost effective and timely manner. Processes purchase requisitions, purchase change orders and requests for quotes to suppliers. Report and resolve any discrepancies. This will require interactions with outside vendors.
  • Inventory Management- conduct and maintain physical inventory of MRO indirect items per departmental procedures and guidelines, coordinate shipping and delivery of these items and maintain records of MRO parts usage against maintenance work orders.Report and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Dispatcher- initiate work order for maintenance personnel to receive on all emergency/non-planned issues that are called in by production.Notify maintenance personnel of that call and provide them with the work order information so that all work activities including MRO parts usage to resolve the issue can be logged against the work order.Assist maintenance personnel in locating parts needed for resolving issues.

Requirements

  • High school diploma.
  • 2 + years' experience working in a manufacturing setting.
  • Ability/Flexibility to work overtime during the week and weekends.

Preferred

  • Associate's Degree in a technical field preferred.
  • Experience working with a database such as SAP.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Windows, and Internet applications.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to work independently most of the time but coordinates with team members on the different shifts.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Must be able to multi-task and able to work while being interrupted.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Capable of lifting (50 pounds) unassisted.
