Job Description

As a Senior Software Test Engineer in Rockwell Automation, you will test industry-leading commercial software known for its innovation and usability. You will be an important player in software test case design, implementation and review. You will play an active role in all the stages of the development lifecycle and support your team throughout the process. You will also help ensure that developed products meet requirements and are within total quality management standards. You will collaborate with multiple global teams.

We are looking for someone who will use a diverse set of technical backgrounds and opinions by fostering a team-oriented environment and the use of open and direct communications and respect. You will also seek knowledge of new developments in the software engineering, computer engineering, and test automation fields and will identify and pursue career development opportunities.

You will report to Engineering Team lead and is based out of our office at Wisconsin.

In this role you will:

  • Use your Python, Postman and Playwright skills to develop automated tests that ensure the quality and functionality of our software products.
  • Design, create tests that cover multiple scenarios and use cases.
  • Work with developers to identify targeted areas of new functionality to test.
  • Participate in reviews of documents, designs, and test cases and provide constructive feedback.
  • Monitor automated test results and report software defects to the development team.
  • Develop test documentation that follows the software development process and standards.
  • Ensure that the team's automated tests are aligned with the project scope and timeline and provide coverage for added and changed product functions.
  • Support the team's CI environment and approach by keeping the tests up to date, running them frequently, and reporting results.
  • Support the team in functional and system requirements analysis required to design and verify added and changed functionality.
  • Monitor and evaluate the testing process adopted by the team and report any inefficiencies.
  • Facilitate effective communication both within the local team and remote teams.

The Essentials- You will have:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.

The Preferred- You may also have

  • Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience.
  • Proficient in Python programming language Experience on an Agile software development team using Scrum Advanced knowledge of software test methodologies, including test design patterns and best practices.
  • Experience communicating updates and resolutions to customers and other partners skills.
  • Direct experience with the Industrial Automation Industry.
  • Experience with Postman and Playwright.
  • Experience with test management tools (e.g. qTest), automated test tools and testing integrated software products.
  • Experience collaborating with local and global technical development teams.
