Job Description

Kenosha Community Health Center is hiring full time Licensed Practical Nurses.

POSITION SUMMARY

This professional position assists the multi-disciplinary team as it relates to clinical services provided to the patient population. Frequent exposure to communicable disease, toxic substances, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment. The LPN is responsible for maintaining their own clinic and mandatory education requirements for meeting the established standards of their profession.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES

* Ability to gather clinical data

* Maintains documentation in clinic record to ensure accurate tracking of the patient medical treatment

* Prepares and Administers Medication and Immunizations

* Schedules/Informs Patients regarding procedures

* Follows procedure for handling various specimens/cultures

* Follows pain Management protocols

* Performs/ Assists with wound care

* Locates and uses equipment required for providing patient care

* Prepares and assists with procedures

Operational Excellence

* Demonstrate excellence in customer service.

* Demonstrate excellence in HIPAA compliance.

Relationships

* Develop and maintain favorable internal relationships, partnerships with co-workers, including managers, providers and support staff.

Stewardship and Professionalism

PRIMARY TASKS AND DUTIES

  • Performs general nursing care to patients. Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards.
  • Assists with the preparation of equipment and aids the physician/physician assistant during treatment, examination, and testing of patients.
  • Observes, records, and reports patient's condition and reaction to drugs and treatment to physicians/physician assistants.
  • Maintains timely flow of patients.
  • Greets patients and prepares them for physician/physician assistant examination. Screens patients for appropriate information. Instructs patients in collection of samples and tests.
  • Arranges for patient testing and information.
  • Posts tests and examination results.
  • Responsible for preparation of exam rooms including re-stocking of treatment areas.
  • Participates in CLIA and OSHA compliance and monitoring.
  • Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations.
  • Checks sample drugs for outdates
  • Documents accordingly for PCMH and MU standards.
  • Participates in quality management
  • Maintains clinic integrity and cleanliness

SECONDARY TASKS AND DUTIES

Perform other related duties as required, which include but are not limited to:

  • Work on KCHC Quality Collaboratives, as needed.
  • Assist in training new staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/KEY COMPETENCIES

  • Thorough knowledge of practical nursing theory.
  • Knowledge of standard practices, rules, and regulations related to licensed practical nursing.
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology, aseptic technique.
  • Knowledge of examination, diagnosis, and treatment room procedures.
  • Skill in using various types of equipment for examination and treatment procedures.
  • Skill in taking vital signs.
  • Skill in maintaining records and writing reports.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public.
  • Ability to recognize problems and recommend solutions.
  • Ability to act calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

POSTION REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
  • Possess a current license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse
  • One year of professional nursing experience preferred
  • Ability to communicate in Spanish (oral and written)preferred

Physical/Environmental

  • Sitting greater than 50% of the time
  • Walking and standing less than 50% of the time
  • Occasional bending and lifting

WORK SCHEDULE

Open availability to work up to 40 hours during clinic operating hours, Monday - Thursday, 7am - 7pm, Friday, 7am - 5pm and rotating Saturdays 7am - 3pm.

Pay to commensurate with experience.

*Full-time LPNSs hired between January 1, 2024, through March 31, 2024, will be eligible to receive a hiring bonus paid in 4 equal installments every 6 months. Employees must be actively employed to receive a payout and maintain perfect attendance within the first 90 days. Internal candidates are not eligible.
