Job Description

REPORTING TO/DEPARTMENT:

Reports to the VP of FP&A organization supporting the R&D organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Core FP&A

  • Own all budget activities for the R&D department including but not limited to: annual planning, forecasting, tracking progress to forecast, close activities, and variance analysis
  • Understand and communicate key drivers of spend, with an ability to make action oriented recommendations based on business objectives
  • Perform ad hoc financial analysis for executive leadership team, Finance team members, and R&D business partners on spend
  • Clearly and concisely articulate R&D spend details (projects, trends, objectives, etc.) to all levels of the organization (C-Suite to entry-level)
  • Develop strong working relationships with executive leaders such as SVP-Global Quality & Regulatory Affairs and SVP-R&D as your key business partners
  • Present monthly forecasts to C-Suite, citing risks, impacts, and overall standing relative to prior forecasts & expectations
  • Become a subject matter expert in SAP and Hyperion systems to track and forecast all financial budgeting activities
  • Partner with FP&A colleagues to identify, share, and implement best practices
  • Foster a continuous improvement mindset in all areas of the role
  • Collaborate cross functionally with Accounting, HR, and other departments to ensure proper and compliant financial management

Finance Lead - Product Development Team

Serve as the Finance lead for all Product Development Teams (PDT)

Own and maintain pro forma financial modeling such as Net Present Value and Return on Investment on all in-flight projects

Collaborate with fellow PDT members to understand and forecast the impact new projects will have on the existing business portfolio

Understand the new project portfolio and communicate all financial metrics, with an emphasis on presenting actional recommendations to business leaders

Perform sensitivity analysis on key assumptions within financial modeling to understand what-if scenarios and potential avenues to maximize financial outcomes

Partner with cross functional team members in Accounting, Revenue, Sales & Marketing FP&A, and others to validate key assumptions used

Perform post-mortems on launched projects with an emphasis on understanding variance analysis and vitality of project(s) to overall business portfolio

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, business, or related field
  • 5-7 years of relevant work experience
  • Financial Planning and Analysis or Accounting experience
  • Strong ability to clearly communicate complex ideas effectively across many levels of the organization
  • Experience with ERP and Budgeting Systems: e.g., SAP, Hyperion, Essbase
  • Strong Excel skills required (pivot tables, lookup functions, shortcuts)
  • Analytical ability to drive insight into the financials that helps management drive the business
  • Ability to solve complex business issues and deal well with ambiguity in a collaborative environment
  • Proactive time management skills to deliver work to deadlines
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to balance multiple demands
  • Technical knowledge and fundamental concepts of financial analysis
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality results
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team in a hybrid work environment

Accuray pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Accuray Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants.
