This is a seasonal position (June 2, 2024-August 2, 2024) with opportunities for extended employment.

The Head Counselor will Supervise and mentor their assigned cabin counselors, ensuring compliance of policies and procedures outlined in the camp staff manual. Head Counselors work closely with the Divisional Youth & Family Outreach Coordinator to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all campers, providing support and guidance of campers and counselors.

Program Support:

  • Attend program planning sessions and provide leadership during orientation training week.
  • Provide servant leadership to counselors, other camp staff, and campers. Maintain a servant attitude, functioning as part of the ministry leadership team.
  • Participate in nightly curfew checks and cabin security.
  • Assist with coordination of daily programming, working with aquatics, nature, pioneer, crafts, ropes, archery, and health services departments.
  • Assist in monitoring daily time off for Counselors.
  • Share in counselor's responsibilities for campers, assisting in cabin connect time & cabin devotions.
  • Give supervision to counselors for cabin/property cleanliness and safety.
  • Assist the Program Manager in preparation and implementation of evening programs.
  • Coordinate cabin access for campers before & after choice time.
  • Coordinate nighttime medication distribution with Health Services
  • Conduct end of session cleaning inspections of camper cabins and staff accommodations.

Other duties:

* Assist with transportation/arrangements of campers/staff.
* Participate in and encourage attendance at staff devotions, outings, and worship services.
* Supervise staff lounge area for cleanliness and appropriate behavior.
* Complete incident reports for any accidents or incidents involving campers and staff per policy.
* Coordinate and distribute evening snack to each camper.

Education: One year of college preferred
Experience: One year prior camp experience preferred. Minimum age of 18 required. Over 21 is preferred.
