Do you enjoy working outside and have a love for aquatics? Have you worked as a lifeguard and are now seeking an administrative position with more responsibility?

Waukesha County Park System is seeking an individual to help in the supervision of the County's waterfront/beach facilities and approximately 20 aquatic staff. (Fox Brook Park being the park staffed with Lifeguards.)

Work Schedule: up to 40 hours per week June to August, limited part-time hours in Spring and Fall. Daily hours vary and include evenings and weekends.

Prior to hiring, the final candidate is required to pass work/education/certification reference(s) and a criminal background and driver's license check.

Example of Duties

  • Assist Park Program Specialist in recruiting, interviewing, and hiring of new lifeguard staff.
  • Train all lifeguard staff in various emergency procedures - including leading weekly in-service training sessions.
  • Work closely with the Park Program Specialist in implementation of beach operations.
  • Supervise beach operations daily, assist as needed with operational decisions.
  • Complete performance evaluations for Head Lifeguard Staff and assist with evaluations for regular lifeguard staff, which are done twice during the summer.
  • Consistently enforce all County Policies and Procedures related to beach operation.
  • Review daily log sheets for all beaches and sign off on appropriate accident/incident reports.
  • Conduct American Red Cross Certification training sessions for Lifeguards, Park Rangers, and Administration Staff, including CPR/AED/FA/BBP.
  • Assist in maintaining beach database on regular basis, tracking attendance/incidents/weather conditions.
Minimum Qualifications

You must meet these minimum Training and Experience requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • High School diploma/GED.
  • Two (2) years of lifeguard experience.
  • Current American Red Cross Waterfront Lifeguard Training Certification.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and ability to use your personal vehicle for work related travel.
Preferred:
  • American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor (LGI)
  • Water Safety Instructor (WSI).
  • Leadership experience

This is a limited term position available from ~April through ~November. When the term is over, it is considered a voluntary resignation.
