Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 4:45pm

Job Summary: Under the direction of a senior faculty member who serves as a mentor for the postdoctoral appointee, The Postdoctoral Fellow provides for an internship and continuation of scholarly activity and research after achieving the Ph.D. or other doctoral degree.

Additional Department Summary: The successful candidate will work with Dr. Chao-Chin Yang in astrophysical research of mutual interests. Specifically, he is interested in utilizing computer simulations and/or theoretical analyses to investigate dynamical processes in protoplanetary disks around a young star as well as the implications of these processes to planet formation, observations of protoplanetary disks, and the Solar System.

The term of the appointment will be initially two years, with a potential extension of a third year. Inquiries about this position can be directed to Dr. Yang at ccyang@ua.edu.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Doctorate. Additional qualifications based on assignment.

Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: The applicant should have obtained a Ph.D. in astronomy, planetary sciences, or a closely related field by the date of hire.

Preferred Qualifications: Candidates with research experiences in protoplanetary disks, planet formation, and/or theoretical/computational astrophysics are encouraged to apply.
