GRAEF is a multi-disciplinary planning, design and engineering firm, started in 1961, with nearly 300 employees headquartered in Milwaukee. We are looking for a mission-driven and dynamic leader for a 10-person multi-disciplinary team filled with intellectually and technically talented colleagues who are innovative and creative.

Our group includes experts in landscape architecture and urban design, community planning, GIS, and environmental design. As Practice Area Leader you would provide strategy, business development, and technical direction to the group, with a focus on the importance of landscape architecture, urban design and community planning and sustainability. Our team members have advanced degrees, licensures, registrations, and related credentials. From our corporate headquarters in Milwaukee, we also collaborate with team members across our 9 offices in the Midwest and Florida.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Bachelor's degree in city / regional / urban planning, urban design, landscape architecture, or architecture.
  • Minimum of 8 years of applicable design experience.
  • Previous project management experience preferred.
  • Professional licensure or appropriate professional credentials required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, AutoCAD Civil 3D or Revit, and / or GIS software desired.
  • Experience with business development activities such as marketing, proposals and client development.
  • Good communication skills and a proven track record in successfully interacting with clients and internal team members is necessary.
  • Experience in leading and mentoring staff for career development and advancement.
  • Excellence in written communication, quantitative analysis, graphic design, urban design, presenting, and critical thinking skills.
