Full Time Pay Range: $59,000 - $65,138


Essential Job Functions

Position
One full-time post-doctoral Research Associate position is available in the College of Natural and Health Sciences, University of Wisconsin - Parkside (UWP). We are seeking a recent graduate with a Ph.D. degree and experience in conducting experiments for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substance (PFAS) removal using advanced materials. Major research areas include studying PFAS removal in batch and column experiments and deciphering the mechanisms associated with the removal. Experience in collecting water samples in wetlands and lakes for PFAS analyses and using single quad and triple quad HPLC-MS for PFAS analyses is needed. In addition, the incumbent will be involved in research to promote sustainable agriculture, a project funded by NSF Engine, and will also be able to participate in a project funded by Freshwater Collaborative of Wisconsin, a joint adventure by a group of multidisciplinary researchers in Chemistry, Earth Materials, Hydrogeology, and Civil and Environmental Engineering from UWP and University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee (UWM). Furthermore, the incumbent will have a chance to teach a course per semester in the academic year in his/her specialty or courses related to Geosciences or Chemistry.


Qualifications

Successful candidates will have completed a PhD, in Materials Sciences, Chemistry, Civil and Environmental Engineering, or a related field. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and creative thinking to generate new approaches for contaminant removal are advantages. Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated strong analytical skills and technical specialty. Experience working with PFAS is definitely a plus. Opportunities to mentor undergraduate students are available, and dependent on candidate interest. Successful applicants would also have opportunities to design and conduct new/ongoing experiments and field studies as well as opportunities to analyze, interpret, and publish existing datasets.
