Position Overview
Will design and manufacture dental restorations for MUSOD patients, such as crowns, bridges, and dentures using the equipment at the Technological Innovation Center. Their primary purpose is to ensure that high-quality dental restorations are produced efficiently and accurately, so that patients receive the best possible care.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Manage the Technological Innovation Center's manufacturing space.
2. Manage the design area of the Technological Innovation Center.
3. Directs the milling operations at the Technological Innovation Center.
4. Maintain and calibrate the equipment of the Technological Innovation Center.
5. Notify Dental School maintenance and informatics of required equipment repairs and computer problems.
6. Assist faculty members at the Innovation Center with all product and individual requirements.
7. Assurance of the quality of the designs submitted by students prior to the production of the prosthesis.
8. Manage and process cases submitted by students, residents, and faculty.
9. Accept and forward approved final cases to the milling unit and 3D printers for processing.
10. Train and calibrate staff members on the digital workflow.
11. Educate and calibrate faculty on the designing and production aspects of the digital workflow.
12. Participate in the facilitation of digital dentistry-related CE courses.
13. Participate and assist in the instruction of a prospective digital dentistry fellowship, training program, or collaboration rotations at MUSOD.
14. Order, stock, and maintain a sufficient dental supply inventory for the innovation center.
15. Process and maintain all documents associated with supply and service orders.
16. Produce samples, models, and prostheses for educational purposes in the pre-clinical courses.
17. Produce clinical samples, models, and prostheses for use by students, residents, and faculty.
18. Fabricate samples for scientific research use.
19. Teach in the digital dentistry courses.
20. Perform additional responsibilities and duties as required, assigned, or requested.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
High School Diploma or equivalent.

Three years of direct experience with digital dental lab workflow, software, and equipment

Experience in designing and manufacturing dental models and prosthesis digitally using various design software programs, milling machines and 3D printers.


Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Completion of a dental laboratory technician program with a digital dentistry component or higher.

Experience with a wide range of CAD software programs.

Experience with a wide range of 3D printers and milling machines.
