The Senior Cost Accountant will be supporting cost and management accounting, financial reporting and analysis, month-end financial closing, and audit. The role requires strong communication skills and critical thinking. In addition, the position will require a robust investigative mindset and can work through efficiency improvements and opportunities as they present. We would be flexible with a one day working from home.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Cost Management

o Manages preparation and execution of annual standards and monthly statistical cost rolls.

o Manages process involving establishment of standard costs of new parts, and review and analysis of standard cost of existing parts.

o Analyzes the purchase price variance in the general ledger.

o Audits cycle count activity, selection of items to be counted, recount decisions, research of discrepancies, and reports on progress towards making improvements for greater accuracy and coverage.

o Assists in the creation of cost of goods sold variance forecasts.

o Provides cost support to cross functional areas as requested.

o Assist in preparation of inventory reports and charts for executive management.

o Maintains the integrity and accuracy of product cost data.

* General Accounting

o Prepares account reconciliations pertaining to inventory related accounts.

o Performs monthly closing activities including preparation of journal entries and explaining variances.

o Assists in SOX compliance audits, internal and external.

* Financial Systems

o Assists in the development of procedures and controls associated with cost accounting.

o Ensures SAP system integrity and accuracy of general ledger and cost accounting data.

o Leverages financial systems to streamline process and improve organizational decision making.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
  • 5 years' experience working in a manufacturing facility or similar environment.
  • 2 years of ERP experience

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • CPA/CPA candidate
  • CMA/CMA candidate
  • Cost Accounting experience
  • SAP and BI experience
  • SOX and GAAP reporting
  • Experience with a global manufacturing company
  • Microsoft Power BI

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills with the ability to create and maintain complex excel models.
  • Able to influence others without direct authority and work effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal, management, motivation, and analytical skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to translate financial information to a non-financial audience.
  • Ability to convert metrics into meaningful information.
  • Self-starter with initiative and vision; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, cross functional environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job include are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
