The Detroitoffice of SmithGroupis looking for aWorkplace Strategistto join our team. SmithGroup has been named one of Southeast Michigan's Top Workplaces by the Detroit Free Press for10 consecutive years!

We are seeking analytical creative problem solvers who possess an entrepreneurial spirit to join our growing Workplace Strategy Team. This role will provide research, analytics, analysis, development, and production of strategy solutions. The Workplace Strategist supports the team through analytical rigor, critical thinking and solving complex organization workplace issues as they guide clients to make more informed decisions about how they support their people, position their business, and manage their assets.

Working with us, you will:

  • Assist in all aspects of workplace research, research execution, and analysis (data gathering and research, workshops, observational research, interviews & surveys)

  • Structure, analyze, and synthesize primary and secondary research and data (quantitative and qualitative) to generate actionable materials

  • Articulate hypotheses, insights, and points of view to facilitate the development of design solutions and organizational recommendations

  • Produce quality end products such as client presentations, strategic design briefs and collateral materials with high-quality design output

  • Participate and support fact-finding engagements, programming, and planning efforts (observations, data gathering, interviews and workshops) development of program and space requirements report

  • Contribute to support strategy reports in terms of writing, analysis, graphics, and data visualization

  • Work with project team to translate and implement strategy through planning and early design concepts

  • Be an integral strategy team member and a resource for senior strategist and the practice leadership across the country to advance growth of strategy team and its services

  • Be an integral part of advancing strategy work including refining current and developing new tools and methods for gathering, analyzing, and creating output for quantitative & qualitative data including user engagement and survey.

  • Support senior strategist and the practice leadership across the country on pursuits, BD & marketing efforts including working with others to conduct background research on prospective clients, create proposal and presentation materials, and formalize scopes of work

An ideal candidate has:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field, such as Architecture, Interior Design, or Planning

  • Minimum 5-8 years of experience in Workplace Design/Projects with experience in programming, planning to design

  • Strong communication and presentation skills.

  • Analytical thinking, planning and spatial relationship. Informs design - quantitative and qualitative - engagement surveys, workshops that happen.

  • Analytical & creative thinker with a passion for solving complex problems

  • Organizational skills to prioritize and execute multiple tasks and projects

  • Learning-mindset; willing and ready to learn for continued growth

  • Microsoft & Teams tools including PowerPoint, Excel, Revit/AutoCAD

  • Preferred familiarity with data applications & survey tools such as Alchemer, and PowerBI
