20Gundersen Health System is seeking a Nutrition Technician to join the Nutrition Therapy Team.What you will do: You will be the customer service liaison for patient meal ordering within the hospital. You will support and work collaboratively with Registered Dietitians and members of the health care team. Having knowledge of computer programs, technology, and how to navigate new programs will be essential to be successful in this role.Position Details:What you will need:
The Nutrition Technician is the customer service liaison for patient meal ordering within the hospital. They collaborate with Registered Dietitians and members of the health care team to provide clinical nutrition care for low to moderate nutritional risk patients.
Major Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for taking meal order calls from patients and guiding them through the ordering process.
2. Responsible for entering of patient specific meal orders including dietary restrictions into the Foodservice computer program.
3. Participates in the nutrition risk screening and monitoring of hospitalized patients according to departmental and organizational guidelines by obtaining, verifying, and documenting relevant data and information for support of nutrition assessment under the supervision of the registered dietitian (RD).
4. Provides basic nutrition education for low risk patients as assigned by the registered dietitian (RD).
5. Works as a part of an interdisciplinary team in achieving and implementing departmental and organizational goals.
6. Participates in quality improvement activities, contributes ideas and demonstrates a commitment to make improvements in the quality of services provided by Gundersen Health System.
7. Performs other job-related responsibilities as requested.
Education and Learning:
REQUIRED
Associate degree in a healthcare related field within 18 months of hire OR completion of a Certified Dietary Manager Program.
Work Experience:
REQUIRED
No experience required.
DESIRED
1 year of health care experience.
License and Certifications:
REQUIRED
Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) within 18 months of employment unless a college degree in healthcare related field has been achieved.
