Company Overview
Hayes Performance Systems is located in Mequon, Wisconsin, only about a 20 minute drive from the city of Milwaukee. Here, we make brakes/ calipers and master cylinders for various different types of vehicles such as Motorcycles, ATV, UTV, Oshkosh Defense, Agriculture, Snowmobiles, we also have our own Bike division where we make more than just brakes for the bicycles. We also make the forks, wheel bearings, spokes and everything besides the frame itself.
General Summary: This position will be reporting directly to the Engineering Manager. We also offer benefits, paid vacation and holidays upon full-time hire. We have very flexible hours and schedules can easily be accommodated to the need of the student. This can either be an Internship, Co-Op opportunity or a part time job during the school year and full time in the summer.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with the Product Development engineering staff to ensure complete and reliable testing to produce data which allows for sound design decisions to be made.
  • Work closely with Test Lab engineering and technical personnel related to test execution and/or design, problem resolution, and test requirements for engineering changes in overall product design.
  • Coordinate and execute testing activities as required.
  • Participate in design validation planning and reporting, utilizing testing activities to ensure compliance with product performance and engineering specifications.
  • Document, analyze and report complete test plans, and provide progress updates.
  • Prepare complete test documentation, including data-entry into computer databases, preparation of graphs and tables, and photographic and video materials.
  • Present and verbally communicate test findings to a diverse audience, including peers, engineers, managers, and outside clients.
  • Develop, implement, troubleshoot, maintain and improve testing capabilities, processes and methods.
  • Knowledge of fundamental engineering, design, and testing concepts.
  • Ability to communicate, both in written and oral form, and train in group or individual situations.
Experience/Qualifications
A candidate must:
  • Be a student; preferably have junior standing, currently working towards a bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Be available to work part-time (10 - 20 hours/week) during the school year and full time during the summer. The hours are flexible to work with your school schedule.
  • Experience in performing testing and lab experiments is a plus, but training will be provided.
  • Be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel, and personal-productivity software applications (document processing, spreadsheets and graphing, presentations, email, web research, etc.).
  • Have experience using CAD, Pro/E preferred. Some CAD training can be provided.
  • Demonstrate history of hands-on interest in "how things work"
  • Provide own housing and transportation to the Mequon, WI area
