Be part of an expanding busy call center team made up of RNs, RCPs, and Communication Specialists. Use your clinical expertise away from the bedside while fielding incoming calls from providers to facilitate consults with Children's specialists, arrange for transport of pediatric and Neonate patients, or arrange a direct admission. This role enables the candidate to use their critical thinking, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills while offering great communication and customer service to our internal and external customers. Efficient use of phone and computer along with experience using Epic is a plus. The Consult Center is part of the Transport Team Department and you will work with a great group of team mates who you have the opportunity to support with intake of transport calls, dispatching the team, arranging for mode of transport (ambulance, helicopter, fixed wing plane) and working collaboratively with our critical care and NICU providers who function in the medical control role for the team.

The Provider Consult Center Clinical Coordinator facilitates/triages patient transport, referral requests, and participates in the efficient management of patient transfers. Acts as a central communication source for all components of the transport and consultation process, including notification of the specialty providers, medical control, transport team and patient placement. Coordinates the mode of transport and collaborates with medical control for appropriate team compositions. Acts as a resource to community and hospital based providers. Demonstrates effective multi-tasking, communication skills, and clinical practices.

  • A current license to practice professional nursing, RN (or respiratory care, RCP)in the State of Wisconsin.
    • RN strongly preferred, an RCP with transport experience may be considered.
  • Three (3)or more years of patient care experience.
    • Previous critical care or emergency room experience as a nurse or a respiratory care practitioner preferred. Consideration will be given to candidates who have at least two years of EMS experience with two years of pediatric critical care experience. Previous transport experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree is preferred. Associates degree also considered.
  • Current CPR certification - Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers through American Heart or American Red Cross is required.
    • Acquires and maintains PALS.

Knowledge of a variety of pediatric healthcare specialties, including level of care, symptom identification critical thinking and decision making to appropriately triage and manage consult and transport requests. Pediatric experience preferred.
Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment are highly desired. Effective interpersonal, verbal, and non-verbal communication skills.
Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail especially during stressful events, emergencies, and angry or upset callers.
Ability to work independently, utilize time management, prioritization and multi-tasking skills needed in a fast paced department.
Ability to make decisions based on established protocols, solid problem-solving skills, and knowledge to recommend change.
Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail during stressful events, emergencies, and complex calls. Demonstrates analytical skills necessary to resolve complex calls.
Basic knowledge of a computer including but not limited to: knowledge of Microsoft Office, web browsing, internet search, document access and electronic health record. Epic experience preferred. Ability to data entry 5500 KSPH preferred.

FTE .75 schedule options - Part-Time Benefits eligible:

Night shift-12 hour shifts -typically 1800-0630 (6:00pm - 6:30am) - rotating weeks with one week being Two (2) shifts and next week of Three (3) shifts.

Eligible for special NIGHT SHIFT bonus program- which for an FTE .75 would be up to extra $3900/year. (which is above standard shift differentials).

Also, **SIGN-ON BONUS ELIGIBLE**

Both have a 3rd weekend rotation, holiday requirement and on-call requirement.
