The clinician functions with demonstrated expertise in the delivery of direct nursing care to children with a variety of health care needs within the school setting. With advanced clinical knowledge and skill, partners with physicians, nurse practitioners, school support staff and school administrators, and other Community Health team members or community resources to promote, maintain and restore health, prevent illness, affect rehabilitation and provide education to students, families, school staff and the community. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a BSN (preferred) or an ADN (with successful completion of a DPI approved Public & Community Health course within 90 days of hire) in order to meet the recommended entry level for a professional nurse. Two years of nursing experience or 1 year of nursing experience plus directly applicable clinical experience as acquired through school A current RN license to practice professional nursing in the State of Wisconsin. Current CPR certification - Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers through American Heart or American Red Cross is required. Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish, both orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary necessary for assessment of health concerns, referral for appropriate medical advice, and to effectively interact with health team members, students and families preferred. Previous experience in community health preferred. The ability to represent the organization and serve consumers in a professional manner and promote a positive image of the organization and its services. Able to comprehend and apply triage/ protocols to perform the above prescribed essential functions. Able to manage a fast-paced service load while paying attention to detail. Demonstrated computer skills.
