The Network Engineer Intern will assist in the completion and execution of network projects. Specifically, this position will complete field visits, network drawings, assist in the completion of quotes and purchase requisitions and network project paperwork. In addition, the Network Engineer Intern will also support the network technicians in the field. This will consist of assisting the network technicians on a variety of equipment installs, as well as, completing network testing.

Responsibilities & Duties:

* Work on network optimization and compliance.

* Develop and release Engineering Project paperwork.

* Complete network site visits to gather data and necessary information.

* Review network installation practices to make sure equipment is installed to design parameters.

* Use Microsoft Visio and draw.io to complete a variety of network drawings, such as, but not limited to floor plans, raceway plans, rack profiles, SONET system diagrams and RoADM system diagrams.

* Use design engineer specifications to work with vendors to obtain pricing and complete the necessary purchase requisitions.

* Assist in the installation of network equipment, i.e. rack installations, power installations, equipment installations, etc.

* Complete network testing and provide a report summary - TDM, SONET, IP and Fiber testing.

Requirements:

* Pursuing an AS or BS Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Information, Networking, or other technical discipline.

* General knowledge of programming languages such as python or C# preferred.

*General knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems.

* General knowledge of internet protocol (IP) networking, Ethernet network principles, Metro Ethernet Networks, MPLS networks and the OSI hierarchy preferred but not required.

* General understanding of TDM networks, SONET networks, and WDM networks preferred but not required.

* Understanding of basic wireless theory and technologies preferred.

*Ability to work on projects with little supervision and a drive to learn about new, exciting technology.
