HUMAN RESOURCES GENERALIST

(1st Shift)

The Human Resources Generalist will assist the Director of Human Resources in developing, managing, and coordinating human resource policies, programs, and procedures to maximize production efficiency and contribute to the attainment of the company's revenue and profit goals.


DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Perform all phases of the employee recruitment process (i.e., write job ads, interview, test, and assist in the selection of applicants).

Processes weekly and bi-weekly payrolls.

Assist with wage and salary changes in accordance with company guidelines.

Conduct wage surveys within the labor market to determine competitive wage rates.

Create, maintain, and conduct on-boarding surveys and exit interviews; analyze data to gauge employee satisfaction as well as trends or patterns; notify appropriate individuals and/or departments of applicable information.

Complete required documentation associated with employee actions such as hires, terminations, leaves of absence, transfers, etc.

Develop and conduct employee and management training on topics such as interviewing, hiring, terminations, promotions, performance reviews, FMLA, sexual harassment, etc.; serve as a back-up for conducting new hire training and orientation.

Assist employees with benefit administration (i.e., new hire enrollment, annual open enrollment).

Assist in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; review and maintain employee handbook and policies and procedures manual; recommend policy changes to management to ensure company compliance.

Maintain knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and assists with ensuring policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance; update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; participating in professional organizations.

Leads the coordination of employee activities and events, as well as any support needed during the activities or events.

Support the company with marketing initiatives along with supporting the sales team, as needed.

Comply with all quality, safety, and work rules and regulations.

Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education level strongly preferred: a college degree preferably in Business with a Human Resources emphasis.
  • At least two to four years of progressive HR generalist experience in Human Resources preferred, preferably in a manufacturing setting.
  • PHR/SHRM-CP or SPHR/SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
  • Experience in all aspects of applicable federal and state labor laws.
  • Understanding of and ability to work with highly confidential information.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and other office machinery.
  • Willing to work in a team environment and contribute toward group goals.
  • Ability to receive and provide instructions in a positive manner.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk or hear, stand and/or walk, use hands to finger, handle or touch objects or controls and move from place to place. The employee is regularly required to sit, balance, stoop, and occasionally reach above shoulders. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

The employee will spend most of his/her time in an office environment. The employee may occasionally be required to go to the workstations of other employees, including the production plant in which personal protection equipment may be required.
