Job Description

The RAMC Medical Imaging department is recruiting a full-time Radiologic Technologist to join our amazing team!


Schedule: Monday through Thursday

Specific Hours: 11 P.M. to 7 A.M

Hours per week: 32 hours per week


  • Position Summary:
    • Radiology Technologist (CT) utilizes computed tomography to produce cross-sectional images of a patient's internal organs and tissues for medical diagnosis. The technologist will administer contrast and scan the patient according to the instructions of the Radiologist. The Radiology Technologist will also perform general diagnostic exams, including, but not limited to: fluoroscopy, tomography, surgical exams, ECGS, stress tests, tilt tables, and portables. He/she will also perform patient transportation, file room duties and secretarial functions. This position requires direct patient care to hospital in-patients, out-patients, Emergency Room and Ambulatory Care patients.

  • Education and Training Required:
    • Graduate of a school of Radiologic Technology.
    • CPR Certified.
    • Registered by the ARRT.
    • Currently licensed as a Radiographer in the State of Wisconsin.
    • Advanced certification in CT preferred.
    • Mammography experience preferred.

  • Physical Requirements:
    • Physical Demands:
      • Frequently stand, walk and sit.
      • Frequently lift/carry up to 25 pounds when moving patients or supplies.
      • Occasionally may be required to lift/carry up to 50 pounds when moving patients or supplies.
      • Frequently required to push or pull up to 10 pounds when positioning patients.
      • Occasionally required to bend and twist when positioning patients and equipment.
      • Frequently required to reach overhead.
      • Frequently involved with using levers, knobs, switches, etc. to use equipment in radiology.
    • Sight:
      • Frequently needs good near and far vision to use computers, equipment and care for patients.
      • Frequently needs good depth perception to properly use cassettes, tubes, etc.
    • Cognition/Communication:
      • Frequently communicates with staff, patients, and other family members using simple writing, reading and math skills.
      • Occasionally will use complex math, writing, and reading skills to adjust techniques, calculate medication amounts, and to understand physician reports and orders.
      • Frequently needs to have good speech and listening skills to communicate with staff, patients, physicians and co-workers via the telephone or directly.
    • Environmental Conditions:
      • Continuously works inside.
      • Frequently will be working in the patient environment.
      • Occasionally may be exposed to fumes/odors with use of processing chemistry and disinfectants.
    • Potential Hazards:
      • Occasionally may be exposed to non-ionizing radiation.
      • Occasionally may be exposed to ionizing radiation.
      • Occasionally will be exposed to needles, syringes, and sharps.
      • Occasional exposure to infectious blood/body fluids while assisting patients.
      • Occasional exposure to toxic/caustic chemical hazards.
      • Occasional risk due to electrical shock and moving parts diagnostic x-ray equipment.
    • Psychological, Situational, Functional Factors:
      • Frequently will be required to be very flexible in regards to shifts and tasks being performed so the department can function 24/7.
      • Occasionally will be required to work overtime and be on call for the department.
      • Frequently will be able to work independently under stressful situations and be required to problem solve and make decisions without supervision.
      • Occasionally will need to be creative and adapt radiographic positions to patient's ability to comply.
      • Frequently will need to perform jobs with accuracy, speed and consistency.
      • Occasionally will be required to manage conflict and difficult situations among coworkers, patients and patient's families.
    • Equipment
      • Frequently required to use computers and keyboards on many applications.
      • Frequently required to use PPE's.
      • Occasionally will need to use copy machine, fax machine, intercoms, and paging system.
      • Requires knowledge of location and use of safety equipment such as fire alarms, extinguishers and eyewash stations.
      • Frequently requires use of diagnostic radiographic equipment.
      • Occasionally requires use of EKG/Stress equipment.
