    Aprilaire is seeking a technically-minded and forward thinking Product Engineer to join our Engineering team. In this role you will develop, maintain, and ensure conformance to specifications and performance of existing Aprilaire products.

    Responsibilities
    • Responsible for supporting quality and performance of a product line
      • Subject matter and application knowledge
      • Manage Non Conformances
      • Monitor and respond to warrant issues
      • Engineering assessment for supplier qualification
      • Investigate competitive products
      • Assist in the development and maintenance of internal and published specifications
      • Support manufacturing process specification
    • Support or lead cross functional project teams for:
      • Cost reduction projects
      • Product enhancements
      • Problem solving and corrective actions
      • Process improvements
      • Special projects
      • New product development and introductions
    • Maintain product line operations
      • Edit, revise and approve product drawings
      • Product change orders
      • Manufacturing support
      • Purchasing support
      • Sales support
    Qualifications
    • Requires a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or other technical degree. Five years of experience in a Sustaining Engineering, Design or Product Engineering role or related technical position(s)
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to develop simple yet persuasive lines of reasoning
    • Solid problem solving skills and methodology
    • Knowledge of basic psychometrics and analyzing processes used for heating, cooling, humidification and dehumidification is required
    • Experience with HVAC systems and/or refrigeration systems is highly desirable
    • Knowledge of or experience with sheet metal fabrication, injection molding, brazing and tube forming is desirable
    • Ability to understand and safely troubleshoot common electrical and electro-mechanical systems is desirable
    • Project management skills and ability to manage cross functional teams
    • Strong statistical skills
    • Problem solving, analysis and computer skills
    • Strong analytical and technical engineering skills and the ability to apply these skills to identify effective solutions
    • Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Word) and Project
