Job Description
Under the direction of the Manager, Enterprise Application Support, responsible for the analysis, design, integration, technical development, implementation, and on-going support of administrative and academic information systems.  Acts as project leader on technology projects and if necessary, coordinates the efforts of a team of technology workers and other appropriate resources to most effectively achieve the District's Information Technology (IT) goals and objectives. Work is generally diversified requiring judgment, analytical skills, and decision making abilities according to established practices and procedures.  Daily activities are completed independently or as part of a project team employing established policies and general objectives; interaction with supervisor is normally limited to problems or unusual conditions.

  1.  •Responsible  for  any  or  all  phases  of  systems  analysis,  design,  integration,  technical  development, implementation, and on-going support of administrative or academic information system projects as assigned.
  2.  •Through participation in formal and informal training and via independent reading to maintain an industry - current technical knowledge and strong hands-on skill in the use of software tools and/or packages upon which the District's information technology resources and systems are based.
  3.  •Maintains a general knowledge of information system technical components such as operating systems, database management systems, web design/development tools, networking hardware/software, micro/mid/large computer hardware systems, etc.
  4.  •Researches and evaluates new software to determine applicability to present and future institutional needs; makes recommendations for implementation.
  5.  •Experience with Datatel Colleague suite of products such as Financial Aid, Admissions, Registration, Curriculum Management, Degree Audit, Financials, and Human Resources.
  6.  •Consults with user clients in assigned administrative or academic areas regarding information needs, existing system problems, training requirements, etc.
  7.  •Provides on-going support for existing assigned administrative or academic application systems; investigates and resolves problems involving these systems, addresses data integrity concerns, provides integration of business rules with information systems.
  8.  •Develops application system documentation and provides associated training for user client staff on information system operation.
  9.  •Maintains awareness of District's information system and technology needs and developments through participation in user advisory committees and departmental meetings.
  10.  •Confers with other division staff. Confers with supervisor regarding problems or unusual events; keeps supervisor informed of the status of assigned projects and activities.
  11.  •Acts as primary contact with vendors for products and services.
  12.  •Participates in in-service training, workshops, and other educational activities as required or assigned.
  13. Performs related duties as required or assigned.
 

 

 Qualifications:
Requires an Associate Degree in Computer Information Systems or related field, (2) years of experience in Web programming / development and / or (2) years of experience working with Datatel products and solutions for customers in the higher education sector and occupational experience in business systems analysis, design, integration, technical development, and implementation; experience as a project leader for a systems implementation project in an educational environment is desirable; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to include the following:
 
  1. Colleague experience crucial.  Colleague system administration experience, and experience with Colleague Web API, including ELF imports.
  2. Experience in SQL environments.
  3. Experience programming in such languages as C# or .NET
  4. Experience working with Ellucian Colleague products/components including UI, WebAdvisor, E-Commerce, Portal, Self Service, Student Planning, and Mobile
  5. Experience with Colleague Studio, UniData, and Microsoft SQL Server.
  6. Knowledge of client side development using JavaScript, JQuery, HTML5, and CSS
  7. Understanding of project management and documentation skills necessary to assess, manage, design, code, and implement projects in Colleague.
  8. Solid query and report development skills.
  9. Solid understanding of how systems integrate, and how to move data between systems.
  10. Ability to manage multiple deadlines, priorities, and tasks
  11. Ability to establish and main effective working relationships with the MATC community and general public.
