Contract/Freelance Project Description
United Language Group is seeking fluent bilingual speakers as Independent Contractors for on-demand and pre-scheduled over-the-phone interpretations for Hmong
The Interpreter must have a strong command of English and Hmong. They must follow the professional Code of Ethics as outlined by IMIA and NCIHC.

Essential Duties + Responsibilities:
 
  • Interpret between English and Hmong languages.         
  • Maintain the appropriate tone of voice, register and observe cultural nuances
  • Maintain professionalism through attitude, and interpreting service
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills
  • Must have a reliable phone line and an adequate work environment to process the calls.
  • Remote (work-from-home)

Qualifications:
  • Proficient in English and Hmong languages
  • Strong knowledge of professional Code of Ethics and privacy laws (HIPAA)
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to remain calm and compassionate when dealing with difficult people and crisis situations
  • Flexible availability

Preferred Qualifications: 
 
  • NBCMI or CCHI certification is preferred
  • Completion of a healthcare interpretation program or at least 2 years of consistent medical interpretation experience
  • Minimum (6) six months experience of over-the-phone interpretation
