Job Description
Gundersen Health System is looking for an experienced individual to help our Professional Coding and Reimbursement Team continue to succeed and advance! 

The Supervisor works under the direction of the Director to effectively accomplish the duties and responsibilities outlined in Gundersen Health System’s Supervisor Job Charter.  Supervises the daily operations of the professional services coding and charge capture/review staff.  Recruits, trains, and develops coding specialists to achieve and sustain compliance with all CMS, AMA, AHA, CPT, ICD, and HCPCS coding and billing guidelines. Competently uses regulatory and payer policies as well as published coverage determinations to research and address coding questions specific to clinical specialties/sub-specialties and services.  Analyzes daily work flow through coding work queues and management reports to maximize efficiency and achieve DNFB (discharged not final billed) targets.  The Supervisor leads process improvement projects, participates in the evaluation and introduction of new technology, contributes to  ICD-10 transition planning and training.  Implements a multi-dimensional quality control and productivity measurement program documenting actions taken and results achieved.  Monitors work flow and addresses any delays in coding completion.   Prepares reports for leadership including quality, productivity, efficiency and financial goals being met by coding operations.  Partners with leaders of the Revenue Cycle to prepare the organization for health care reform and changing reimbursement.

Position qualifications
 Education and Learning:
Required: 
  • Associate degree in  Business or  a health related field 
  • Evidence of completion of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS training.
Desired:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or a health related field
Work Experience
Required:
  • 3-4 years of healthcare experience including increasingly responsible assignments as a team leader, project manager, or supervisor.
?Desired:
  • 5-7 years of varied experience in professional services coding.
?License and Certifications
Required:
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC)   or  Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)   or  Certified Coding Specialist - Physician Based (CCS-P)   or  Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)  Valid Driver's License (DL)
