Job Description

 


LAKELAND COLLEGE, a liberal arts institution located in east central Wisconsin, seeks candidates for the one-year position of Visiting Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Bands. The appointment will be a nine (9) month contract beginning in August of 2013.


The successful candidate will be inheriting a strong and revitalized band program with potential for continued growth at a college that is in a growing pattern and has a rich tradition in music.  Responsibilities include directing the concert band, pep band, jazz band, and pit orchestra for spring musicals; teaching applied music lessons and other coursework; and actively assisting in recruitment process, including coordinating WSMA band and choral events.


Candidates with doctoral degrees in music will be considered at the rank of assistant professor; candidates with master’s degrees are welcome to apply for consideration at the rank of instructor.  Candidates should also provide evidence of the ability to work effectively with students and colleagues, enthusiasm for networking with area school and community band directors, a demonstrated commitment to quality teaching, strong interpersonal communication skills, and a history of dynamic and engaging collaboration.
