LAKELAND COLLEGE, a liberal arts institution located in east central Wisconsin, seeks candidates for the tenure-track position of Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Bands. The appointment will be a ten (10) month contract beginning in August of 2013.

The successful candidate will be inheriting a strong and revitalized band program with potential for continued growth at a college that is in a growing pattern and has a rich tradition in music.  Responsibilities include directing the concert band, pep band, jazz band, and pit orchestra for spring musicals; teaching applied music lessons and other coursework; actively assist in recruitment process, including directing the music camp and coordinating WSMA band and choral events; contributing to the general education requirements of the college; and advising students and engaging in service to the college and profession.

Candidates with doctoral degrees in music will be considered at the rank of assistant professor; candidates who are ABD are welcome to apply for consideration at the rank of instructor.  Candidates should also provide evidence of the ability to work effectively with students and colleagues, enthusiasm for networking with area school and community band directors, a demonstrated commitment to quality teaching and advising and maintaining a constructive presence in the arts community, strong interpersonal communication skills, and a history of dynamic and engaging collaboration.
