ROLE OVERVIEW
While working in the Clean Room, Coating, Converting, Extrusion, Lamination, Rewind, Slitting or Press department you will be given an opportunity to develop your skills through our training programs. You start at an entry-level position to learn the basics, and have the chance to progress and become a machine operator. You will have various opportunities to cross-train and develop new skill sets for a successful career at Bemis.

Full-Time positions : 12 hour shifts follow a 2-2-3 schedule where you work two days, have off two, work three days, etc. With this schedule you can enjoy a 3 DAY WEEKEND every other weekend. We also provide your shift schedule for the WHOLE YEAR!

Part-Time positions : 6 hour shifts follow a 2-2-3 schedule where you work two days, have off two, work three days, etc. OR work 12 hour shifts Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and get paid for 40 hours!

WHAT PRODUCTION ASSISTANTS GET TO DO: (Entry Level - Straight 12 hour shift on 2-2-3 schedule OR Part Time available)
  • Wrap, band, label and pack bags/pouches/lids within Inner Pack bundles according to customer specification
  • Pack bags/pouches/lids neatly, accurately and according to customer specification
  • Immediately notifies Co-workers, Operator, Leads, and Supervisors /Management of Quality concerns/issues
  • Inspect product for defects identified on a customer return or QA hold, document defects, replace with good products, band, repack, and label good reworked products per customer specification
  • All other duties as assigned by management and supervisors

WHAT ROLL WRAPPERS GET TO DO: (Entry Level - Rotating 12 hour shift on 2-2-3 schedule)
 
  • Wrap, label, and palletize finished slit rolls from all Rewinder lines in accordance with customers' requests
  • Properly complete all documentation and paperwork, including but not limited to, job check off sheets, cleaning logs, etc.
  • Operate pallet jack, forklift, and tilt lock in a safe and efficient manner
  • Clean compactor room, empty dumpsters, sweep, other housekeeping duties as assigned
  • Load pallets with film and put them on a pallet lift
  • Load film on a stretch wrapper, label and remove wrapped pallet
  • All other duties as assigned by management and supervisors

WHAT MAKEREADY GETS TO DO: (Entry Level - Rotating 12 hour shift on 2-2-3 schedule)
  • Make sure that all plates returned to the making/mounting area are clean, this includes cleaning the plate cylinders
  • Maintain the gear-up room in clean condition and place gears in proper location
  • Familiarize and understand the complete operation of the computer system for distillation to washing machine parts
  • Assist the press crew by cleaning decks, changing cylinders, and other tasks as needed to bring press back into production
  • Properly complete all documentation and paperwork, including but not limited to, job check off sheets, cleaning logs, etc.
  • Work on the presses as workloads and schedules dictate
  • Check with supervisor to find out where help is needed
  • All other duties as assigned by management and supervisors

WHAT CONVERTING OPERATORS GET TO DO: (Advanced Level - Rotating 12 hour shift on 2-2-3 schedule)
  • Work, act, think and converse in terms of improving quality and elimination waste in his/her process department.
  • Stop any operation that is not producing product to customer expectations or is in violation of approved quality and safety procedures.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned by the Converting Manager, and/or Operations Manager
  • Must be able to safely and efficiently set up and run a bag machine.
  • Must be able to manage machine output in regards to handling, packaging, and shipping preparations for finished goods.
  • Must be able to read and understand all phases of a production order and customer specifications. Must be able to perform rework functions and internal and/or external goods.
  • Must be able to work overtime when needed. Must maintain attendance in accordance to company policy.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL ENTRY-LEVEL MANUFACTURING POSITIONS:
  • Ability to lift up to 50-60 lbs
  • Willing and able to stand and walk for a 12 hour shift
  • Frequent reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, and twisting
  • Frequent use of wrist and hands
  • Frequent stepping up and down from platforms
  • Exposure to a noise level above 85 decibels
  • Reasonable accommodations will be considered on a case by case basis

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL ADVANCED MANUFACTURING POSITIONS:
  • Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50-65 lbs.
  • Willing and able to stand and walk for a 12 hour shift
  • Frequent reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, and twisting
  • Frequent use of wrist and hands
  • Frequent stepping up and down from platforms
  • Exposure to a noise level above 85 decibels
  • Exposure to solvent odors and odors created in the melting process of manufacturing plastic films
  • Reasonable accommodations will be considered on a case by case basis

  • Previous manufacturing experience a plus, not required
  • Knowledgeable and able to understand a computer and programs

  • Required to have visual acuity to perform visual inspection including the use of measurement devices and ability to identify and distinguish colors
  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with others in a team environment
