Company Overview
IMCOM will synchronize, integrate, and deliver installation services and sustain facilities in support of Senior Commanders in order to enable a ready and resilient Army.

Ready and Resilient Army: provide Soldiers, Families, and Civilians a quality of life commensurate with the quality of their service.

The Installation Management Command is one of the many success stories of Army transformation. In an effort to standardize its garrisons, the Army created the Installation Management Agency in October of 2002. Using an enterprise approach, IMA removed the burden of base support from 15 major commands. This brought uniformity to the facilities and services of 184 installations, worldwide - and by 2006, this was accomplished with $4.5 Billion less than in 2003.

After proven success, the Army transformed the agency into the Installation Management Command.

In October of 2006, the Army Environmental Command joined IMCOM as a subordinate command. Today, the AEC is protecting endangered species of plants and animals, recycling waste, and saving energy and water. All are priorities ensuring sustainable garrisons for the future of our nation’s Army.

In June of 2011, the Army’s Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation Command became the G-9 directorate of IMCOM and the commanding general of FMWRC became the IMCOM deputy commanding general for operations. This integration ensured the commitment to the Army Family and Community Covenants would always be an IMCOM priority. This makes Army garrisons the platforms of readiness and resiliency for Soldiers, Families and Civilians, complete with programs and services which enhance the mind, body, and spirit of those that always answer our nation’s call.

Just months later, the Base Realignment and Closure Act of 2005 brought to this campus all the elements, putting IMCOM headquarters in charge of operations and support services. Relocating from Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland, Crystal City and Alexandria, Virginia, to Fort Sam Houston, Texas gave passionate individuals with great minds the opportunity to synchronize, integrate, and deliver installation services and facilities in support of senior commanders in order to enable a ready and resilient Army.
