Based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and founded in 1997, the Center for Self-Sufficiency, Inc. is a non-profit organization determined to make a positive difference by providing the services needed to promote healthier youth, families and communities. Under the leadership of President and CEO Angela M. Turner, the Center for Self-Sufficiency, Inc. specializes in partnering with federal agencies, states, local governments, and school districts as well as community- and faith-based organizations to develop effective service delivery models for America’s cities. The Center for Self-Sufficiency, Inc. has been contracted by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services Administration for Children and Families as well as the Wisconsin Department of Health & Family Services to provide Community-Based Abstinence Education services in Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. In 2006, the U.S. Administration for Children and Families also awarded the Center for Self-Sufficiency, Inc. a major grant to provide Healthy Marriage Education services in Southeastern Wisconsin, including Milwaukee, Racine and Kenosha Counties.
