Company Overview
The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) is one of the premier park systems in the United States. Its picturesque lakes, neighborhood parks, recreation centers and diversified programming have made the park system an important component of what makes Minneapolis a great place to live, play and work.

MPRB was created in 1883 as an independently elected, semi-autonomous body responsible for governing, maintaining, and developing the Minneapolis park system.

Commissioners – Every four years nine commissioners are elected to this Board – one from each of the six park districts within the city and three that serve at-large.

Governance Structure – Our unique structure, allowing independent decision-making, helps us to efficiently oversee a diverse system of land and water.

Employment – Our positions are as diverse as our park system, with hundreds of different jobs performed year round. The MPRB provides a wide variety of activities and facilities to meet the needs of the residents of Minneapolis. We employ nearly 500 full-time permanent employees and fill over 1,500 part-time temporary positions that may last for several days up to several months.
