Overview
The CTE Educator delivers instructional, curricular and professional development activities for the Career ConneCTEd Illinois through the Illinois State Board of Education. This includes developing curriculum in high-quality, standards aligned CTE professional development content and delivery. Reimbursed travel will be included along with occasional nights and weekends. Professional development activities are delivered to K-12 educators in partnership with districts, EFEs and in stand-alone conferences and workshops.
Position Summary
This position will be primarily focused on instructional tasks – curriculum development, delivery of instruction, assessment and evaluation in CTE using instructional strategies that broaden CTE across all careers and ensures implementation of standards across all contents. Most of the position is spending time in front of various audiences delivering instruction to teachers and administrators. Some of the position will be in curricular design and small amount of work in assessment. The position is a non-tenured, instructional outreach position to complete deliverables as required by an Illinois State Board of Education contract.

Minimum Required Qualifications
Education and Experience Required
A. Minimum educational requirements. Bachelors degree in a CTE field required.

B. Minimum experience requirements. Specify both type and length of experience required.
  • Five year’s experience as a secondary CTE instructor or administrator
  • CTE leadership experience in leadership of a team to produce high quality CTE/CTE programming, curriculum, instruction and/or assessment including creating accommodations for disabilities.
  • experience with Perkins V, Programs of Study, WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act: and IL Education for Employment System
  • Professional development presentations created and delivered regarding best practices in CTE
C. Licensing or Certification Required
  • IL Teacher licensure required in CTE field
Additional Requirements
D. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Critical to Performance of this Position
  • Experience in convening and supporting successful local business advisory boards and industry councils
  • Experience in creating and delivering professional development according to state and national standards
  • Familiar with EFE/ACC requirements and improvement planning processes and documents
  • Experience with local WIOA connections
  • Experience with successful local business and industry councils
  • In-depth knowledge of at least one CTE discipline

Other knowledge, skills and abilities
  • Ability to work successfully as a team leader and as a team member
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently with minimal supervision, initiate new projects, and network across CTE networks, NIU, and the region
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Commitment to accountability for the university’s outreach and engagement mission, presidential goals such as increasing partnerships, and division goals for mutually beneficial engagement with communities across the region
Preferred Qualifications
