Sanitation/Street Laborer – Job Description

The City of West Allis is hiring a Sanitation/Street Laborer to work collaboratively with the Public Works Sanitation and Streets Division to collect and dispose of garbage and recycling and maintain the City’s streets, alleys, sidewalks, and sewer systems. Tasks can include but are not limited to assisting at the City’s residential drop-off sites, building and delivering refuse and recycling carts, assisting with bulk and brush collections, assisting crews on garbage and recycling routes, picking up litter, working on/with asphalt performing crack sealing and patching, cutting and trimming grass, and winter snow and ice control.

Examples of Duties

Assist DPW Yard Attendant in the residential Drop-Off-Site giving direction, assisting residents, charging fees, taking monies and giving change, cleaning all areas within and around site, dumping garbage carts, building and delivering garbage and recycling carts, assist on brush, garbage, recycling crews as needed.
Hours: Tuesday -Friday 7am-3pm and Saturdays from 7:30am-3:30pm.

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent
Valid Driver's License
Ability to obtain Commercial Driver's License (CDL) B, C with air brakes within 1 year of hire
Physical laborer experience preferable but not required
