Technical Writer/ Technical Service Representative!

The Technical Writer/ Service Representative is a combined role encompassing both technical manual writing and service representative responsibilities helping our customers.

The service representative is responsible for assisting customers and subcontractors with technical problems with hydraulic, electrical or mechanical machinery questions. The representative will assist with applications regarding function, install, maintenance and replacement, as well as warranty, parts order entry or issues for loading dock safety equipment. Related travel could be approximately 10%.

Technical writer responsibilities include producing high quality documentation that contributes to the overall success of our products. This position translates business specifications into user documentation.

What you'll do:

* Troubleshoots products and equipment, recommending quick, well thought-out and best practice solutions and repair.
* Technical support to customers over the telephone, addressing and resolving questions and problems with hydraulic, electrical or mechanical machinery questions or applications.
*Search and resolve production, installation and technical support issues related to Systems' specialized control boxes and equipment, including sensors, controllers, and interconnections.
* Reads and understands blueprints, schematics, manuals, bulletins and other specifications.
* Provide corrective actions for products under warranty according to policy procedures.
* Process replacement parts and warranty orders for existing products or units.
* Plan, develop, organize, write, edit and maintain operational procedures and manuals
* Research, develop and document technical design specifications
* Manage updates and revisions to technical literature
* Use strong computer software skills such as spreadsheets, databases, word processing, email, ERP (TCM), IOT etc. daily with efficiency. Use InDesign software for technical manuals and publications.
* Remains technically competent and keeps current within the industry.
* May travel to customer sites 10% of the time.
* Assists the team to perform other duties as assigned.

We will provide ON THE JOB TRAINING. Ideal candidate would possess the following:

* Relevant Bachelor or Associate degree strongly preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience
* Previous experience writing mechanical documentation and/or technical procedural materials
* 3 years of a solid mechanical, electronics, electrical, controls, and troubleshooting equipment experience and aptitude.
* Prefer at least 2 years of this technical experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
* Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, manuals, bulletins and other specifications.
* Understanding of electronics, electrical field wiring and control wiring.
* Superior written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy, with a personable and professional demeanor.
*Strong computer software skills such as InDesign, MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, applications, etc.), ERP (TCM), IOT, etc. with efficiency.
* Technologically advanced personality, proficient technology user, Smart Phone, tablet, PC, IOT.
* Initiative, service-orientation, interpersonal and team skills.
* Possess valid driver's license with good record.
