Position Description
St. Augustine Preparatory Academy is seeking a candidate to fill a full-time Development Writer position. The successful candidate will shine the light of Jesus in every interaction they have. This candidate should be a creative and motivated writer for our Development team. The Development Writer will work with the Augustine Prep team to develop fundraising proposals, project summaries and annual reports, stewardship communications and other written collateral. There will be opportunities to write for print and electronic projects ranging from individual donor communications, institutional foundations, capital campaign-related promotional materials, and general stewardship projects.
Reporting Structure: The Development Writer will report to the Director of Development.
Job Responsibilities & Roles:
- Prepare proposals/ reports or edit and customize pre-existing proposals to prospects for major gift solicitations. Draft or edit gift agreements and other solidifying documents.
- Create templates for proposals and gift agreements.
- Track and maintain grants and reporting calendar.
- Perform needed research for funding proposals, applications and other organizational planning.
- Together with donor relations staff, prepare stewardship reports and materials to enable donors to understand and appreciate the impact their gifts have made/are making.
- Organize fundraising and campaign information for effective presentation in publications, web sites, and other media.
- Compile data and produce presentation decks for presentations, meetings, board reports, etc.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Have a minimum of three-five years of experience in writing for development/fundraising, communications, media relations, or related field.
- Demonstrate outstanding writing, editing, and proofreading skills, including abilities to prepare materials for different audiences and purposes, including "ghost writing" for NPS senior leaders, staff, and volunteers.
- Exhibit best practices in proposal development, understanding branding and positioning strategies and how to use various communication channels.
- Demonstrate ability to handle multiple projects and produce high quality results in a timely manner and to work both collaboratively and independently.
- Interact effectively with a wide variety of people.
- Ability to work within fast-paced environment and with minimal supervision.
- A belief in the ability of every child and a commitment to ensure excellence for each student.
- Participating member in a local church.
- Team player committed to the St. Augustine Prep mission and model.
- Lastly and most important, the candidate must demonstrate and possess the highest integrity and be able to live the values, beliefs and culture of St. Augustine Prep
