Job Description

JOB SUMMARY


Field Service Technicians will be expected to travel throughout the USA. FST1 will work within in the team to execute mechanical/electrical tasks in direct support of completing field service projects on equipment utilized in Power Transmission, Distribution, and Generation. Technician will participate in the installation, maintenance and or repair of electrical equipment following defined procedures and industry standards. Market companies capabilities for future opportunities. Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions. Conform to all safety rules and use all appropriate safety equipment. Participate in safety training and technical training as required.

To perform mechanical/electrical support in the following areas that requires supervision from FST's 3 & 4:

  1. Transformer Assembly
  2. Electrical Testing
  3. Controls
  4. LTC's
  5. Oil Processing

Class A CDL Regulations:

  • All driver required licenses, medical cards, endorsements, etc., must be valid at all times
  • All vehicle required inspections, permits, and associated documentation must be valid and available in the vehicle
  • All required reporting of fuel receipts, mileage, driver logs, etc., will be in compliance with DOT regulations
  • Driver must adhere to DOT Hours of Service regulations and coordinate work schedules with managers
  • Driver is responsible for reporting any non-compliance issues to the Fleet Manager or his or her manager

Equipment Operation/Condition/Maintenance/Documentation:

  • Perform daily vehicle inspections
  • Inspect vehicle to ensure working conditions of brakes, lights, wipers, windshield, fire extinguishers, flares, and all safety equipment
  • Check fuel and oil levels in truck
  • Verify vehicle has current tags, permits, and annual inspections
  • Adjust mirrors on both sides of the truck to ensure clear visibility from the driver's seat
  • Overall maintenance of truck and regular servicing of vehicle
  • Ensure that cargo is well secured
  • Maintain record of goods and freight loaded and unloaded
  • Report any equipment in the truck that is inoperable or missing
  • Report improper loading of cargo
  • Inspect freight and vehicle for compliance with regulations
  • Verify trucks routes and access to projects
  • Maintain accurate logs and trip records
  • Abide by all federal Hours of Service regulations
  • Track all records of fuel purchases
  • Report all traffic accidents and violations

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Competent driving skills
  • Knowledge of vehicle and all its parts
  • Basic mechanical knowledge to handle minor repairs
  • Skill to maneuver large vehicles on highways and traffic routes
  • Knowledge and understanding of GPS
  • Knowledge of state and federal transport regulations

Required Education / Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Valid Driver's License

Preferred Education / Experience

  • Manufacturing or Industrial experience

Key Working Relationships

  • Works with other departments (Customers, Components, Sales/Marketing, transformer plants-Goldsboro, Waukesha)
  • Communicates with customers and managers who may have inquiries about aspects of the job which entails the exchange of accurate information and quick decisions in these situations.

Physical Demands

  • Estimated hours for this position is 60 hours a week
  • Ability to remain in a standing position 90% of the time.
  • Ability to travel 95% of the time to different job sites throughout the region. Travel by vehicle and plane.
  • Ability to operate heavy machinery, climb, and work at heights
  • Ability to lift, pull, push, and carry up to 50 lbs.

Working Conditions

  • This is a non-controlled environment in terms of climate - subject to weather at jobsite location
